That brings us to the structure of Elden ring. If I-(h)ad to give a number, I'd say rougly eighty fi-ve to ninety percent of this game is quote unquote o-ptional.

In that sense, it's kind of like Breath of the Wild in that you're exploring around at your own pa-ce to get stronge-r before ta-ckling the main stuff And this takes may different forms. Maybe it's a dungeon, Maybe it's a ca-ve, Maybe it's an overworld boss, Maybe it's an aba-ndoned village, Maybe it's an ca-stle, Maybe it's a bunch of thigns and I should stop reading off a list.

reading off a list = going through a list = rattling off a list 목록을 하나씩 짚어가다, 읊어내다

The point is, there's a lot to do and Fromsoft has managed to make all of it engaing and worthwhile. And that's achieved primarily through two things. One, the raw quality of the level designs, enemy designs and boss designs And two, the power of secrets and surprises One minute, you might be finding your new favorite weapon, and the next minute, you might stumble across an NPC questline. These sort of surprises are spread out everywhere. And the effect that this has is that it makes you want to check every part of the map. There is an obvious filler content like you might find in other open world games. It's that classic Fromsoft quality of handcrafted design, but expanded to an absurd degree. I said this in the network test video, but instead of thinking of this game in terms of other open world games, I think of it as one gigantic Dark Souls level, with lots and lots of smaller Dark Souls levels, scattered around throughout it. You know, the more I think about it, this game feels like two- maybe three Souls games mashed together with how much there is to do. It's incredible.
